So exactly what is a hangover and what caused it?
A hangover occurs whenever you consume more alcohol than your body can effectively manage, resulting in significant dehydration and the buildup of a very evil toxin named acetaldehyde-leading to headaches, nausea, vomiting, bloodshot eyes, loss of appetite, shakiness, fatigue, sexual dysfunction, and occasionally, even god-awful diarrhea. This perfect storm of awfulness- commonly known as a "hangover" - has been acknowledged in the medical community and has been given the diagnosis of "veisalgia," a term derived from the Norwegian word "kveis," meaning "uneasiness following debauchery." This is why we take a 3-pronged approach designed to treat the symptoms of a hangover while simultaneously eliminating the cause.
I never used to get hangovers. What happened to me?
You got older! Unlike a fine wine, hangovers worsen in severity as the years pass, starting around the 29th birthday. There are two reasons for this: First, alcohol goes through a series of steps where it is detoxified in the liver by antioxidants which prevent the buildup of an evil toxin named acetaldehyde. Unfortunately, as we hit the age of 30, antioxidant production begins to fall, resulting in the buildup of the evil acetaldehyde and in turn, increased symptoms of a hangover. Second, dehydration plays a large role in hangovers, accounting for the headaches and overall feeling of malaise the next morning. Unfortunately, as people get older, the amount of body water they hold decreases, which amplifies the horrible effects of dehydration.
How do you make hangovers go away?
Hangovers suck. We have been there and understand that. We aggressively attack hangovers using a 3-pronged approach designed to treat the symptoms of a hangover while simultaneously eliminating the cause! • Aggressive IV fluid and electrolyte infusion to reverse symptoms of dehydration and restore proper fluid balance. • Administer IV medications to combat the nausea, headache, upset stomach, and body aches that make you feel just plain miserable. • Administer IV vitamins and antioxidants, including glutathione, to enhance the body's ability to filter out the nasty symptom causing by-products of alcohol.
How does your service work?
Once scheduled, we will arrive promptly at your hotel, guest house, residence, or even docked boat to administer your chosen treatment package(s). While you are receiving IV fluids, vitamins, and medications, you can continue with your life with only the minimum of interruptions while you are well on your way to complete recovery.
Who can receive your treatment?
Almost anyone. We do not treat minors below the age of 18, or patients with certain medical conditions. You will be medically screened prior to any discussion regarding treatment options.
How long does it take to eliminate my hangover symptoms?
The process can take 45-60 minutes depending on the package selected. But more importantly, you will start feeling better in as little as 10 minutes. B12 and other offered intramuscular injections usually take less than a minute. Seize the day feeling refreshed and revitalized!
Does it hurt?
For most clients when the IV is placed the sensation is no more than a quick "pinch." Our staff are all experienced professionals who have previously placed hundreds if not thousands of IVs in critical situations, whether in an emergency department, as a paramedic, or even on a battlefield. If you still are still nervous about the procedure, we can offer both a numbing spray and a state of the art nerve blocking option. We want you to have as pleasant an experience as possible!
Does your treatment really work?
Our therapies have been clinically shown to have over a 98% success rate. Further, our providers are not only employees, they are also clients.
Why IV? Can't I just drink fluids and take pills?
It is impossible to drink 1-2 liters of fluid in the same time you can receive it intravenously, even if you weren't experiencing hangover symptoms such as nausea and vomiting. Further, by having to pass through the GI tract, oral intake of fluids and vitamins have absorption rates that never exceed 50-60%. IV infusions and intramuscular injections are essentially a direct deposit into your bloodstream and are 100% absorbed. There is no faster way to replenish desperately needed fluids, vitamins, and electrolytes, quickly eliminating symptoms and getting you back on your feet again.
